Freelance Journalist
More than 20 years of experience
My background includes planning and editing special sections and conducting research-based reporting for the Kansas City Business Journal, reporting on business and agriculture for the Topeka Capital-Journal, and covering school board meetings and county fairs for a small daily in Junction City, Kansas.
Along the way, I’ve gained experience in photography, public speaking, radio reports, moderating judging panels, managing employees and budgets, SEO, website publishing, and more.
In 2013, I moved to Wyoming, where I work as a freelance journalist.
The rapidly evolving profession has carried me through convergence to social media and digital analytics, awarding me with a wide range of knowledge and skills. From X-Acto knives, pica poles and dusty newspaper morgues to news aggregation and database management, the tools and tasks of the job have changed dramatically. But the fundamentals of accuracy, fairness, humanity and accountability remain. The value of conveying important and complex information with clear and engaging storytelling is as vital as ever.
